Just Relax. Get a Wax.

Yes, it hurts, but not THAT bad…

Types of Waxes

Brazilian

This includes hair from the front all the way to the back. And even the cheeks if need be.

French Bikini

I describe this as a narrow V shape. Think Baywatch bikini style.

Other waxes include,

  • Eyebrow

  • Lip

  • Underarm

  • Chin

Relax. You’re in good hands.

Preparing for a wax:

Check for irritation, sunburn, or breakouts. It’s best not to wax skin if it has had a lot of sun exposure or aggressive skin care products. Waxing with Aunt Flo is fine and totally up to you. However, it is said the bikini area is a little more sensitive during this time of month and if you choose to still get waxed, just insert a tampon before the appointment.

Your hair should be at least 1-2 cm. Roughly 1/4 -1/2 inch.

Exfoliate using a cloth or exfoliating pads to remove any dead skin cells. This helps with ingrown hairs and allows for easier hair removal. AVOID using a loofah as they can harvest bacteria.

Consider a pain reliever an hour before appointment to keep skin from swelling and alleviate some of the pain. Topical pain relievers can also be used at least 15 minutes before appointment.

What about after the wax?

Your first wax removes the majority of hair that has grown above the skin. Because hairs grow in different cycles, your subsequent waxes will remove the hairs that were still growing below the skin’s surface but have now sprouted above the skin. After three to four waxes, all of your hairs should be growing in the same cycle, resulting in longer lasting smooth skin.

Exfoliate. Use a cloth or exfoliating pads to remove dead skin cells that may clog the hair follicle and create an ingrown hair.

Moisturize. Using grape seed or jojoba oil (most like our skins natural sebum) or a scent free lotion. This keeps the skin and hair soft for future waxes.

Avoid any physical or sexual activity for 24 hours if getting the bikini area waxed. You want to keep the area clean and friction free.
